Assad's forces kill Citizen-Journalist Hussein Al Abbas

Prominent media activist Hussein al-Abbas has been killed by Bashar al-Assad's forces on Wednesday, Dumeir Local Coordination reported without elaborating where or how he lost his life.

Al-Abbas was considered one of most active citizen-journalists in Damascus countryside; he covered and reported Syrian revolution's events since its beginning in 2011.

The coordination did not elaborate where or how he lost his life.

Al-Abbas co-founded Dumeir Local Coordination as he worked in Aid and relief work.

He was arrested in 2012 by Jordanian Authorities over charges of aid smuggling to Syria, but he was released after huge appeals by International Human Rights NHO’s and social media activists.

The Committee to Protect Journalists described Syria as the most dangerous place in the world for journalists.

More than 30 journalists have been killed and dozens arrested or kidnapped in Syria since the uprising began three years ago, with no detailed statistics for Syrian journalists and citizen-journalists detained in Assad's prisons.

Syria's conflict, now in its fourth year, has killed more than 150,000 people, a third of them civilians, and caused millions to flee.
