(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian artist Mazen Al-Qarji excelled in turning stone into beautiful and creative paintings, highlighting the finest details with great precision and skill.

Al-Qarji, 54, originally from town of Kafr Nabl in northern Idlib province, graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts. After returning and settling in his hometown, he made mosaic pieces inspired by the Syrian mosaic heritage of the Greek and Roman era to help a number of amateurs and due to his desire to revive this art.

He uses materials from multiple types of local stones in addition to collecting ancient cubes scattered by earthquakes and damages.

The artist said that he trained a number of skilled amateurs to accommodate new numbers of workers in response to the growing demand for modern mosaics, which made a comeback in decorating the floors and walls of houses as it was centuries ago.
