Syrian talks to reconvene in Geneva on Nov. 25: UN envoy

 A U.N. backed panel on Syria will meet again in Geneva later in November, the U.N. Special Envoy said Friday, after it met for the first time seeking political reconciliation following 8-1/2 years of war.

"The two co-chairs have agreed to meet here again in 14 days. The next round of discussions will start on November 25," Geir Pedersen said of the Constitutional Committee, Reuters reported.

The opposition delegation stressed on a package of 12 principles demanded full commitment to Syria's sovereignty and its independence, integrity and unity,” according to Zaman al-Wasl reporter.

The delegates said the outcome of talks should guarantee the political pluralism, full citizenship", as well as ensuring women's representation and participation in institutions.

Nasr al-Hariri, head of the negotiation commission stressed that the main object of the talks is to end the suffering of the Syrian people, including detainees and refugees. 

 Eight years of war in Syria have killed 560,000 people and driven half the pre-war population of 22 million from their homes, including more than 6 million as refugees to neighbouring countries.
