Aleppo: local initiatives get fund to opposition schools

Hours after activists launched the “My Pen My Dream" campaign, the Directorate of Free Education in Aleppo announced the return of support to the education sector.

The director of free education in Aleppo, Mohammad Mustafa, said that the directorate, along with Manahel program, launched a project to support schools after conducting a survey of the number of teachers and students in schools after recent displacement.

Manahel program will support 126 schools in the directorate’s area, including teachers' salaries in Al-Jawdah and Al-Wusoul schools.

Several memorandums of understanding between the Directorate and a number of organizations have been signed before the launch of the program, including the return of support to some schools that were supported by them during the last academic year.

Mustafa added that a number of organizations have applied for approval to conduct a field survey of schools not covered by the project, in order to support them. The Directorate will announce these projects as soon as they are signed.

Mustafa thanked all those who participated in the campaign, especially the Syrian Media Forum and all those who contributed to the return of financial support to the education sector.
