Latakia: rebels kill 4 regime troops in Kabana hilltops

(Zaman Al Wasl)- At least 4 regime forces were killed and 7 more wounded in clashes with Syrian rebels on the Kabana battlefront in coastal Latakia province, field sources told Zaman al-Wasl Saturday.

The strategic mountainous stronghold of Turkish-backed rebels has been under major attack by regime forces and allied militias over the past few weeks.

The regime army has been using heavy aerial and ground bombardment but rebels are still showing fierce resistance.

So far, rebels have thwarted three incursion attempts this week, killing at least 2O troops.

The regime army is mobilizing troops in the southern countryside of Idlib near Latakia, seeking to take the last stronghold in Mount Turkman, activists say.

Eight years of war in Syria have killed 560,000 people and driven half the pre-war population of 22 million from their homes, including more than 6 million as refugees to neighbouring countries.
