Police top officer files complaint over looting his house by Shabiha: document

(Zaman Alwasl Leaks) – By George Hadad- Translation Dani Murad

In a leaked document obtained by Zaman Alwasl , a senior officer in regime’s ministry of interior claimed that an armed group have broken into his house and stolen some of its contents, and he demanded an appropriate financial compensation to what have been stolen.

The complaint came within a formal letter submitted about 10 months ago, by the head of administrative affairs in ministry of interior, Major General Hamid Assad al-Murai, and directed it to "Whom It May Concern", where he complained that " an armed terrorist group, estimated to be 50 unknown persons have broken into his house in the village of Abu Drikha administratively belonging to al-Safira in Aleppo governorate".

Al Murai claimed that the armed group looted all his house electric equipment such as (conditioners, refrigerators, washing machine, and electrical generator) as well as the house furniture, which are: 4 bedrooms, Arabic furniture and Madafah.

According to Major General al-Murai, the armed group are still in the house which they have taken as their headquarter, and concluded his complaint saying that he leaves the task of estimating the value of damages in house and its contents to the committee .

Al Safira and its neighborhoods are among the most affected areas of regime’s bombing and siege, in addition to the existence of military base in it, called “Defense Factories” which manufacture large quantities of ammunition that enabled the regime to continue its war, and also considered one of the strategic locations chosen by the regime to store its chemical weapons.

However, in a previous document published by Zaman Alwasl and exposed an incident where regime forces, specifically the Fourth Division, and Republican Guard, have looted two apartments affiliated to police housing (AR: Masaken al-Shorta) neighborhood in Mouadamiya, Damascus suburb.

The document which is dated June 2013 No (4581), revealed that the first apartment belonged to First-Lieutenant Samer Issa from Damascus police, and the second is owned by Engineer Mona Masri, an employee in the ministry of interior, and that when the two entered their apartments, found some forces from the fourth division in one of the two apartments, and Republic Guards in the other.

Similarities between the two reported incidents and their identical circumstances clearly show that looting is committed by Syrian Government Forces and their affiliated groups and that even pro-regime supporters and officers are not safe from these violations.
