(Zaman Al Wasl)- Three military pilots killed Sunday when their attack helicopter exploded inside Hama military airbase in northwest Syria, sources said.
No reports revealed the reason behind the explosion.
According to pro-regime media outlets, the slain officers were Lieutenant Colonel Luai Abbas, Major Yaser Raed and Lieutenant Jalal al-Eter.
Syria’s helicopters have dropped thousands of barrel bombs - oil drums, fuel tanks or gas cylinders filled with explosives and metal fragments- that have killed more than 11,000 civilians in Syria since 2012, according to the Amnesty International.
More than 130,000 pro-regime forces since the armed conflict erupted eight years ago with the brutal repression of protests against Bashar al-Assad.
