Bomb kills two children in Eastern Ghouta: activists

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Two children were killed in a bomb explosion in the eastern enclave of Damascus, activists said Sunday.

The bomb was one the war remnants in eastern Ghouta suburbs.

The fall of eastern Ghouta in April 2018 was achieved in a brutal fashion and changed the course of the war.

More than 1,700 civilians were reportedly killed during the eight-week offensive.

Eastern Ghouta was the scene of the first major protests against the rule of Bashar al-Assad in the capital.

Rescue groups and volunteers have been working to dismantle cluster munitions, landmines and explosive booby-traps as they work to make battle-torn areas safe for civilians.

Since the Syrian revolution erupted in 2011, more than 560,000 people have been killed, and more than six million people have been displaced.
