Ten officers from Latakia killed in November

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Ten army officers, originally from Latakia province, killed in December, sources told Zaman al-Wasl

Four more servicemen from Bashar al-Assad's hometown were killed in December.

The war wheel has been rolling again in strategic Kabana hilltops, north of Latakia, and Idlib province after the fall of a fragile ceasefire.

About 70 regime troops have been killed in Idlib clashes, according to activists.

Rebels and jihadists have killed more than 135,000 pro-regime forces since the armed conflict erupted eight years ago with the brutal repression of protests against the Assad regime, according to local monitoring groups.

Eight years of war in Syria have killed 560,000 people and driven half the pre-war population of 22 million from their homes, including more than 6 million as refugees to neighbouring countries.
