Assad forces to divide Homs neighborhood into cantons

The main road connects the main hotspots of Homs has turned to be the Death road, last week, by Assad's snipers. Zaman Alwasl reporter said.

''Snipers are planted everywhere on the road they are targeting everybody'', the reporter said.

Alwaer neighborhoods suffered from the fierce attacks by the Pro-Assad's neighborhoods like al-zahraa, the stronghold of Shabiha militants.

The Assad regime wanted to isolate the revolt areas by dividing Alwaer into small cantons,  activists said.

Homs - for many the capital of the Syrian Revolution - was one of the first cities to join the uprisings against the government, the first demonstrations in April 2011 saw its brutality first-hand when crowds protesting in its Clock Tower Square were fired on, reportedly leaving at least 50 dead and others wounded.

The 27-month-long conflict has claimed more than 100,000 lives, the Observatory announced Wednesday. Meanwhile, Assad’s forces, backed by militants from the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah, have made creeping gains in recent months.
