During the Syrian revolution, a number of Syrian officers have defected from the regime to either join the revolution side or to flee to other countries, and recently some of them switched sides to join Assad’s forces again in a further sign of staged defection.
An
official leaked document in this regard dating back to September 2013, revealed
“the return” of a colonel in regime’s ministry of interior to his job, after
"fleeing the service."
The document directed from the Head of Administrative Affairs to the Minister of Interior “Mohammad Al Shaar “, showed that Colonel and doctor Walid Daas, who served previously in al-Shurta hospital in Harasta, has submitted an application requesting to be allotted with an apartment in Dahiat Harasta, in the northeastern suburb of Damascus.
Moreover, The document also mentioned that “Daas” had an apartment in Harasta before “fleeing” which later was handed over to an officer with a captain rank.
In addition to that, the document referred to Minister’s approval to the suggestion of giving “Daas” his job and residence back, and transferring his case to (the special investigation committee)
ًٍSyrian activists have raised many question marks regarding some defected officers who came back to Syrian Army, asking if those were undercover agents with spy mission to undermine the free Syrian Army.
