(Zaman Al Wasl)- Bashar al-Assad on January 1st has promoted 16 Brigadier to the rank of Maj. General and 25 Colonels to the rank of Brigadier General. Most of them gained fame in brutality and killing, each in his field.
Zaman al-Wasl has obtained the names of the promoted Major Generals, who mostly come from Bashar al-Assad's hometown in coastal region and belong to the Alawite sect, an offshoot of Shiite Islam.
The promotions to the rank of Major General included:
Ibrahim Al-Wa’ari, Deputy Head of the General Intelligence Division.
Youssef Suleiman Ajib, General Director of the Defense Factories.
Fouad Jumaa, General Director of the Military Social Foundation.
Suhail Fayadh Asaad, Deputy Commander of the 5th Division.
Maarouf Mohamed, Chief of Staff of the 15th Division.
Tawfiq Ahmad Khaddour, Commander of the 22nd division.
Fouad Mohamrd Masoud, Chief of Staff of the 9th Division.
Youssef Suleiman Ajib, General Director of the Defense Factories.
Fouad Jumaa, General Director of the Military Social Foundation.
Suhail Fayadh Asaad, Deputy Commander of the 5th Division.
Maarouf Mohamed, Chief of Staff of the 15th Division.

Also, Ahmed Ibrahim Nayouf, Saeed Zarifa, Ahmed Mu’alla, Mohamed Jawad Khayrbaik, Muhammad Hussein Esber,Abdullah Suleiman, Farid Salloum, and Faris Ghaidha.
Al-Assad, who believes that war is over along with his key allies Russia and Iran, has maintained to survive with a powerless army by depending on local militias and Iran-backed-and-funded foreign militants.
More than 135,000 regime forces have been killed in seven years of brutal war, according to local monitoring groups.
Syrian activists said all active officers in the regime army have been involved in war crimes against the Syrian people since the conflict erupted eight years ago that claimed lives of half a million and displaced half of the country’s population.
