A confidential document by regime’s ministry of interior showed that the ministry had hidden the confiscated weapons, so it would not be seized by Syrian intelligence services.
The document which is dated in April 2014, and among thousands of official documents obtained by Zaman Alwasl, has revealed in a letter directed to the Minister of Interior “Mohammed Al Shaar”, that there is no workshop in the ministry to repair weapons, and that any weapon brought to the army workshops to be repaired will be confiscated for the advantage of the top intelligence pyramid, under a circular issued by the Office of National Security.
The date of the circular is clearly new, and later to the outbreak of the Syrian Revolution, in which many defections have taken place in the army, ministry of interior, and the intelligence, to an extent that has shaken regime’s credibility in itself and made it doubt most of its repressive intelligence devices.
The national security office was established a few years ago, a substitute for what was called the National Security Bureau, headed by Hisham Bakhtiar who was succeeded by Ali Mamlouk, after being killed with a number of regime’s top leaders during what was known as "bombing the Crisis Cell” mid-2012.
The national security office is the first supervisor on the work of all regimes’ intelligence agencies and its branches at home and abroad.
