Coalition's Political Commission to hold meeting in Cairo

(Zaman Alwasl) Arab League has approved Syria’s National Coalition to hold next meeting of its political commission in Cairo between May 31 and June 1 in the league headquarters, source told Zaman Alwasl.

The move comes in critical time as many opposition figures suffer bad treatment by Egyptian authorities since toppling President Mohamed Mursi on June 3, 2013.

Syria’s main opposition group will discuss many issues including Syrian regime’s vacant seat in Arab League, source said.

Last Arab League summit in Kuwait city on March 25, Saudi Arabia called on the Arab League to grant the Coalition a seat at the summit. But Arab League chief Nabil al-Arabi had earlier said that Coalition will not fill the Syrian regime’s vacant seat at the summit because it has yet to meet the legal requirements, according to AFP.

Meanwhile, the conflict in Syria, which entered a fourth year, has killed more than 162,000 people and displaced millions.
