(Zaman Al Wasl)- At least six civilians were killed and 19 others wounded in artillery barrage fired by Kurdish militias on the opposition-held region of Afrin near the Turkish border, local activists said Wednesday.
Afrin lies north of Aleppo near the border with Turkey. It was held by the Kurdish YPG militia until last year when rebels seized it and the countryside around it in a Turkey-backed offensive.
Ankara considers the YPG an extension of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) that has waged an insurgency on Turkish soil since 1984.
