Outrage sparks over congratulating el-Sisi by Syrian opposition

(Zaman Alwasl)- Outrage has been sparked amid Syrian opposition after an official congratulation letter to Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi on his inauguration as president of Egypt by the opposition National Coalition.

Several Coalition members have expressed their resentment of NC leader Ahmed Jarba, ‘it’s shameful congrats’ some say.

Zaman Alwasl sources said the ‘Congrats letter’ was a result of Saudi pressure on the Kingdom’s man in the coalition, Al Jarba.

"The coalition turned to be no more than a tool to endorse foreign policy of ِArab gulf state,’’ the source added.

The first reaction came to surface was the resignation of National Coalition’s member, Ali Sadreddine al-Bayanouni, the former Comptroller General of the Muslim Brotherhood in Syria.

According to his resignation letter obtained by Zaman  Alwasl, al-Bayanouni said,” I was surprised - as many others - that the coalition represented by its president, had sent a message of congratulation to the insurrectionists of Egypt revolution, praising   their success in the coup which undermine the revolution of the Egyptian people.”

This congratulation is not much different than congratulating Bashar al-Assad, according to MB leader as both, al-Assad and el-Sisi, have made fabricated elections mixed with blood.

“The National Coalition, which is no longer - in my opinion - reflect the hopes and aspirations of our people in achieving the objectives of the glorious revolution,” al-Bayanouni said.

Eiad Charbaji, Journalist and social media activist, posted on his Facebook page, ‘’This step could be a sign of political intelligence if it could solve the harsh life circumstances of Syrian refugees in Egypt,. But it will be a silly and cheap if it was due to Saudi dictations.
