Ten inmates escape Kurdish-run prison in Deir Ezzor

(Zaman Al Wasl)- At least 10 inmates escaped from a prison controlled by the US-backed Kurdish-led forces in eastern Deir Ezzor province, local news site reported Saturday.

The prisoners who were charged of drug dealing and murder took advantage of the electricity outage in the Kesra area in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor, according to Nidaa al-Furat.

According to Washington Post, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) has been guarding about 20 small prisons that hold 10,000 people accused of being members of the Islamic State. The Kurds also control and operate several camps that house 70,000 women and children believed to be family members of Islamic State fighters.
