(Zaman Al Wasl)- The US-led International Coalition has been recruiting local fighters in northeastern Hasakah province, activists said Sunday.
The separate move to form its own local force came after five years of joint operations with Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) that drived Daesh out of swathes of northern and eastern Syria.
. The fighters will get $400 each, according to activist Muhanad al-Yousef.
Most of the Coalition’s military operations were limited to aerial bombing but until the defeat of the Islamic State group in Raqqa in 2017.
But Daesh has revived again in eastern Syria thought carrying out ambushes, assassinations and bombings, posing a threat for the Coalition along the Syrian border with Iraq.
