(Zaman Al Wasl)- Five civilians were killed by unknown assailants in a desert area west of Deir Ezzor city, activists said Monday.
Activists have accused Daesh militants of carrying out such crimes against civilians in the Syrian desert, known as al-Badiya.
Early April, seven people, including a woman, were also killed by suspected Daesh militants in the desert of Deir Ezzor.
Daesh has been largely defeated in the country but has continued to carry out ambushes, assassinations and bombings there and still poses a threat along its border with Syria
On Saturday, two US-backed fighters and a displaced child were killed by an improvised explosive device planted by Daesh in Deir Ezzor, local activists said.
The radical group has killed thousands of people since 2014. At least 5600 bodies were exhumed from Daesh mass graves in eastern Syria, according to local rights groups.
