Daesh kills six army officers in Syria desert

(ZAMAN Al WASL)- At least six army officers killed by Daesh (ISIS) in the Syrian desert, pro-regime media outlets said Thursday.

The second ambush in three weeks took place near the town of al-Sukhna in the eastern countryside of Homs province.

The militant group killed 18 troops in the same area early Arpil.

For two months, regime forces and allied fighters have come under a series of ambushes, assassinations and bombings in the Syrian desert, mostly carried out by the Islamic State group.

Opposition factions and hardline groups have killed more than 140,000 pro-regime forces since the armed conflict erupted nine years ago, according to local monitoring groups.
