Explosive device wounds two people in Afrin

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Two people were wounded by an improvised explosive device in the northern town of Afrin, such an attack follows a series of Kurdish militias attacks against civilians in Turkish-held areas.

According to Zaman al-Wasl reporter, the IED went off in a commercial area in the city center. One child was also wounded, he added.

Turkey’s military and its Syrian rebel allies seized Afrin, a mainly Kurdish district, from the YPG in March 2018 in a major offensive.

Two weeks ago, 48 civilians were killed, including 11 children, when a bomb detonated in Afrin.

The blast was one of the deadliest to hit a region under the control of Turkish-backed forces.

Ankara views the YPG as a terrorist group linked to Kurdish militants on its own soil and has mounted military operations in northern Syria to push it back from the border.
