FSA Supreme Council says dismissal decision is 'grave breach of law'

The Supreme Military Council of Free Syrian Army in statement issued Friday denounced Interim Government's decision to dissolve the Council and to refer its members to the administration and financial committee, Zaman Alwasl reporter said.

The statement described the decision as "a grave breach of law", saying it is not the prerogative of the interim government.

Prime Minister Ahmad Tu’mah also ordered the dismissal of the Joint Chief of Staff Brigadier General Abdul Ilah al-Bashir as he commissioned Brigadier General Adel Ismail to run the Staff affairs.

Tu’mah called the revolutionary forces and rebel groups at the battlefields to form a military defence council within one month.

The rift between Western-backed opposition and moderate FSA has escalated as the armed Islamist groups have become the most powerful force in the three-year-old uprising against Bashar al-Assad, who has long portrayed himself as the defender of a secular order in Syria.

Syria's conflict, now in its fourth year, has killed at least 162,000 people, according to activists. Nearly three million Syrians have fled the country.
