Rigged motorcycle kills two civilians in Hasakah: activists

(Zaman Al Wasl)- A rigged motorcycle exploded in northeastern Hasakah province, killing two citizens as hundreds went to streets protesting deteriorating economic conditions ahead of U.S. Caesar sanctions, activists said Tuesday.

The attack happened in the village of al-Gharb on the northern edge of Shadadi town, according to Hasakah-based activist Malaz al-Yousef.

Residents of al-Shadadi, formerly main Daesh stronghold, have accused Daesh militants of carrying such attacks in areas under the YPG-led Kurdish forces.

The value of the Syrian pound (Lira) has been plummeting this week.

Dealers said it cost as much as 3400 Syrian pounds in the capital to buy one dollar on the street on Tuesday while it cost as much as 4000 pounds in opposition-held areas.

The nine-year-old conflict has killed more than 560,000 people and displaced 6.5 millions.
