THE Local Council in Rastan, appealed to all aid & relief and humanitarian agencies to help Rastan and break the siege forced on the town by the regime, as Homs Council had disconnected all communication with Rastan 2 months ago. All that threatened the town of humanitarian crisis, caused shortage of children milk, which considered the most dangerous result, as that could put children’s lives at risk

The stuation in Rastan is too bad, regime has cut off Saric water pipe that pump water to Rastan and Hama and bread is about to run out because of lack of ingredients. Rastan’s Local Council held the Coalition, the Interim Government and the whole world responsibility for what has been happening to the town as there is no help and support despite all the calls and appeals.

“The number of infants in need for milk around 980 one, and the price of one can around S.P 850” Dr. Maha Ayob, the Director of Mother and Children Health Office in Rastan told Zaman Alwasl. She added that the office has informed people in Rastan about the shortage of children’s milk, fortunately, the council helped them in paying USD 10 thousand to secure children Milk for this week and they managed to provide milk and distribute it to people registered in the office. “However, the number of children is increasing as a result of displaced people from Homs and other areas and staying in Rastan, which increase demand on for children milk” the doctor detailed.

There are around 400 cases of disability, paralysis and chronic disease among children in Rastan and Northern countryside of Homs, as a result of shelling and siege forced by Syrian regime since the beginning of April 2012.
