Summer rainstorm damages 30 displaced camps: Idlib

A summer rainstorm has partly damaged 30 refugee camps in northwestern Syria, rescue group said Friday.

The floods have washed away dozens of tents along the Turkish border, according to the Syrian Response Coordination group.

More than one million people have been stranded in makeshifts camps in northern Idlib province since the conflict erupted nine years ago amid harsh living conditions.

Russian and Turkey agreed a truce on March 6 that has halted a three-month long offensive by regime forces and allied militias. The fighting has caused a major wave of displacement.

The nine-year-old conflict has killed more than 490,000 people and displaced 13 million.
