(Zaman Al Wasl)- A crop fire destroyed about 40 hectares in southern Sweida province late on Friday, local activists said.
The massive fire flared up in the Dafn area in the southern countryside.
Firefighters backed by farmers and residents were able to extinguish the fire that hit the unharvested wheat crops.
Last year, crop fires in Syria caused $50 million in damage to wheat and barley harvests.
At least 14 farmers died in 2019 while desperately trying to save their crops from arsonists and to save their livelihoods.
