(Zaman Al Wasl)- The Syrian Health Ministry has put a whole district west of the capital under quarantine on Sunday after reporting 11 confirmed cases with novel Coronavirus.
The district of Jadidat Al-Fadl in the western countryside of Damascus has witnessed an increase in the number of infections, after a 70-year-old woman died of COVID-19 last Wednesday.
The war-torn country has for now confirmed 198 cases of the novel coronavirus and seven deaths but experts doubt that the number is accurate, saying Syria is seen at high risk from the virus.
Nearly 9,000,000 people have now been confirmed with the coronavirus globally, and while at least 4,775,000 people have recovered from COVID-19, more than 468,000 have died, according to data from the World Meters organisation.
