(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syria's health ministry on Thursday has confirmed 11 new coronavirus cases, topping the total of infections to 242.
At least seven people have died of COVID-19 in the war-torn country but experts doubt that the number is accurate, saying Syria is seen at high risk from the virus.
Last week, the regime’s health ministry put a whole district west of the capital under quarantine after reporting 11 confirmed cases with novel Coronavirus.
The district of Jadidat Al-Fadl in the western countryside of Damascus witnessed an increase in the number of infections, after a 70-year-old woman died of COVID-19.
Nearly 9,633,000 people have now been confirmed with the coronavirus globally, and while at least 5,234,000 people have recovered from COVID-19, more than 487,000 have died, according to data from the World Meters organisation.
