Russia on Sunday has appointed Major General Milad Jadid as a Fifth Corps commander which was formed by Russia in November 2016, sources said.
Maj. Gen Milad Jadid has replaced Maj Gen Zaid Saleh.
Jadid is considered a commander of the "Special Forces", appointed in June last year, which is considered one of the fiercest fighting teams in the ranks of the Assad forces, and was previously called "Thunderbolt Forces" and when it entered Lebanon it became known as "Special Forces".
He received the Syrian file in Lebanon, and its system is based on regiments, not brigades, and has tasks to support the Republican Guard in protecting presidential palaces. She has participated in many battles against the Syrian people in various rebellious governorates, most notably Daraa, Damascus, and Homs.
In August 2018, Russia provided special forces with advanced modern military equipment, such as individual guns, snipers, and thermoscopes used by the Russian special forces.
Maj. Gen Saleh was appointed Commander of the Fifth Corps at the beginning of the formation in 2018, and was appointed in August of 2016, as Chairman of the Security Committee in Aleppo, in place of Major General "Adib Mohamed" who was exempted from his duties due to the progress of the factions Syrian resistance in Aleppo.
He also held several previous positions, including the Deputy Commander of the Republican Guard in 2018, the Commander of the “30th Division” in the “Republican Guard” 2017, and the 62nd Brigade of the Tenth Division in Damascus Governorate who was his commander since the outbreak of the Syrian revolution until 2017, Several violations of his forces were recorded in the cities and towns of the western countryside of Damascus, and the Aleppo fronts, including the Layrmoun and the Bani Zaid district, and the Sheikh Meskin neighborhoods in Daraa Al-Balad, and most of the northern countryside of Hama and the southern region of Idlib.
It is worth noting that Russia worked two weeks ago on the formation of Brigade 16, appointed under the commander of General Saleh Al-Abdullah, Deputy Commander of the "25th Special Division" previously Brigadier Suhail Al-Hassan, without being able to monitor any other information on the number of members of the new brigade and the places that works at.
