A military source told Zaman al-Wasl that the Syrian Air Force has received 12 MiG-29SMT fighter jets from Russia early this month.
The second batch of Medium Weight Multirole aircrafts was landed in the Russian-held Hmeimim base in Coastal Latakia province where syrian military pilots have transferred the fighter jets to the Sayqal (Al-Seen) military airbase in the Syrian desert, the source added.
Last June, Syria’s News agency SANA reported that the regime army had received 8 MiG-29SMT.
MiG-29 SMT is an improved version of the MiG-29 Fulcrum fighter aircraft, designed and produced by Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG (RAC MiG), according to militay news site.
