An army general was killed and two soldiers wounded in a blast attack in the eastern province of Deir Ezzor, pro-regime activists said Tuesday.
Social media accounts have mourned Brig. Gen Hassan Hamoudi, originally from coastal Tartus province, saying he died 'defending his nation against radical groups.'
On Sunday, pro-regime activists had also mourned a colonel and soldier killed by a roadside bomb in northern Idlib province.
The blast that killed Colonel Mohamed Helala in the eastern countryside of Idlib on Saturday was caused by an unexploded mine left by regime forces.
More than 220,000 regime forces have been killed since the armed conflict erupted nine years ago.
The conflict in Syria has also killed more than 500,000 people and displaced 13.2 millions.
