(Zaman Al Wasl)- At least three militants from the Liwa al-Quds militia were killed Wednesday in an ambush by Daesh (ISIS) in the eastern province of Deir Ezzor.
The ambush took place west of the oil-rich city when ten ISIS fighters attacked a military vehicle carrying Palestiniain militants.
Liwa al-Quds that was formed in 2013 is one of Russia’s favorite militia groups inside Syria where its fighters get direct aid and military training by Moscow.
Also, an army lieutenant was killed Tuesday due to an ambud by Daesh in Raqqa province, activists said.
Syrian regime forces and allied fighters have come under a series of ambushes, assassinations and bombings in the Syrian desert in the past six months, mostly carried out by the Islamic State group.
Daesh has been largely defeated in the country but has continued to carry out ambushes, assassinations and bombings there and still poses a threat along its border with Syria
More than 220,000 regime forces have been killed since the armed conflict erupted nine years ago.
The conflict in Syria has also killed more than 500,000 people and displaced 13.2 millions.
