Islam Army expels IS fighters from Misraba, Eastern Ghouta: commander

(Zaman Alwasl)-  Islam Army commander in statement circulated online said his fighters had expelled the Islamic State’s militants from Misraba in Eastern Ghouta.

Zahran Allosh, commander of Islamic Front’s main unit, said hundreds of radical group fled their stronghold in the embattled Ghouta, assuring that the ‘cleansing war’ will be continued against IS fighters.

Captain Abdul Rahman, (preferred not to give his last name) told Zaman Alwasl that 70 militants mostly foreign Jihadists and were killed and 20 others held captive from IS.

Syrian rebels, including the main Islamist factions, said last week the creation of a caliphate by IS was "null and void", according to AFP.

"We see that the announcement by the rejectionists of a caliphate is null and void, legally and logically," the groups said in a statement, using a pejorative term to refer to the extremist Islamic State.

ISIS has kidnapped thousands of Syrians, including rebels and opposition activists, and carried out daily summary, public executions in areas under its control.

More than 171,000 people have been killed since Syria's conflict began in March 2011.
