 Translation by Yusra Ahmed

(Zaman Alwasl-Istanbul)- It has been reported to Zaman Alwasl that Nasr al-Hariri, the General Secretary for the Coalition has surprisingly and suddenly called for the General Authority’s meeting at its 15th round on 20th and 21st of July 2014 in Istanbul.

The article 17 of the rules of procedures states that General Authority’s meetings are held once monthly, however can be called earlier in case of urgency.

Members requested delaying the meeting until after Ramadan, arguing that Coalition rejected holding an urgent meeting when military situation in Aleppo deteriorated and regime with help of ISIS achieved some winning, besides falling most parts of Deir Ezzor’s countryside in ISIS’s hands, besides, calls for independency in Hasakah to form two Autonomous Authorities under PYD’s control.

“I cannot see the meeting more than an execution to Ahmad tomeh’s government, it is strange for the first outcome of latest election to be minimizing the Government according to personal or mutual benefits” a source described the meeting to Zaman Alwasl.

In a relevant content, Zaman Alwasl obtained a letter forwarded to the Coalition from Marwan Hajo al-Rifaee, a member of the Legal Committee in the Coalition confirmed that “no-Confidence motion” needs a majority of votes, in other word: half+1 of the Coalition’s members

In the same letter he said that Syrian people’s suffering would be his most priority if the government dismissed.

Rifaee added in his letter: “if Jarba-Sabbagh alliance wanted to go for No-Confidence motion for the recent government, we are keen to prevent any governmental gap, therefore, it would be better to prepare a list of the new government ready for nomination and voting to be done in the same meeting, not to leave go for many months later”.

Rifaee ended his letter requesting the Secretary General to have a new start with new legally-oriented working mechanism, which help and serve the revolution and does not harm people inside Syria.

Safwan Jandali, a Coalition member replied at the call for the meeting via an official letter to the Coalition’s leadership in which he congratulated them for confidence they were given to be the representatives of the General Authority.

He hinted to the possible intentions of the callers for the meeting which might increase differences and gaps between the Coalition’s members saying: “we hoped that first work you do after election could help in mending disagreements and differences inside the Coalition, not the other way round, our revolution had had difficult times last year, and we called for early meetings, but there was no reply from the Coalition members”

Jandali requested to postpone the meeting or cancel it and to solve the Government’s matter via dialogue and discussion between the Political leadership of the Coalition and the Interim Government and to leave the personal issues outside the General Authority’s meetings.
