Idlib: two Turkish forces wounded in assailants attack

Two Turkish forces were wounded on Sunday by unidentified gunmen in northern Idlib province, according to Zaman al-Wasl reporter.

The attack took place at the international Aleppo-Latakia Highway, known as (M4) while the Turkish forces were having lunch at a local restaurant near the town of Ariha.

The attackers managed to escape, Zaman reporter said.

The Turkish military has come under at least three attacks in the past few weeks.

Turkey, which backs rebels opposed to Bashar al-Assad, agreed a ceasefire with Russia last March after months of fighting displaced nearly 1 million people in Idlib. Moscow supports Syrian regime forces.

Idlib province is home to 3.5 million civilians, according to the United Nations.
