Jabra berates himself for supporting Tomeh's government: source

(Reporting by Abdullah Raja; Translation by Dani Murad)

National Coalition’s former president expressed his deep remorse for supporting Dr. Ahmad Tomeh, the president of the interim government, well-informed source told Zaman Alwasl.

The source said that Ahmad Jarba   one of the biggest mistakes he ever committed during his presidency of the coalition, and that it's time to overthrow him.

Moreover, the sources said that Tomeh’s dismissal of FSA Supreme Military Council, which Zaman Alwasl has published its details earlier, was a total shock to Jarba who used to believe that the president of the interim government was someone “reliable and trustworthy”, and won’t make any decision without consulting him, pointing out that Jarba has decided from that moment to overthrow Tomeh’s government, but was waiting until the end of the battle of coalition presidency, which ended in favor of his friend and ally, Hadi Al Bahra.

In this context, the sources also confirmed to Zaman Alwasl that voting of no confidence and overthrowing Tomeh’s government, have become a matter of time, since the majority of Jarba’s Political grouping within the coalition is determined to withhold confidence, and once the coalition meets on the 20th of this month, this subject will be on the table for discussion, describing the meeting as a summit to “break the bone” between two semi-equal forces in the coalition; the first governed by Jarba, and the second is controlled by Muslim Brotherhood and their allies and other figures that don’t belong to any party.

According to the sources, withholding the confidence requires “half of the votes+ one”, and that means 59 out of 116 members, a number that is easy to be achieved, and Al Bahra has become a president with 62 votes, and these votes fully agree on no-confidence decision, in addition to the approval of some other members on that as well.

And whether the alliance of (Sabagh - Jarba) which pushed successfully Hadi Al Bahra to the Presidency of the coalition, has reflected on Tomeh, to be replaced later with Sabbagh, sources ruled out that scenario, pointing out that Jarba truly doesn’t trust al-Sabagh nor sees him as a future ally, however, their close relation is just a matter of tactics, and no one so far has been proposed to be the next president of the government , because the issue requires a lengthy balances and consultations among coalition’s members.

On the other hand, Zaman Alwasl’s sources said that the elections of the previous presidency revealed the nature of the deceptive alliances within the coalition, noting that Jarba received another blow from Muslim Brotherhoods because of their swinging vote to Hadi al-Bahra. Stressing that Jarba has expressed his remorse again for having close relations with them, and that he was wrong to ever trust the group.

At the same time, sources pointed out that Muslim Brotherhoods have recently become more apprehensive to deal with Jarba due to his close ties with Saudi Arabia which put the group on its list of terrorist organizations, even though the kingdom officially denied to the Muslim Brotherhoods its relation with this decision.

And apart from the war of statements and lack of confidence after the dismissal of the Supreme Military Council, Jarba’s group also criticizes the personalities that surround ahmad Tomeh, and according to figures who support the idea of no-confidence, Tomeh’s government is just a group of incompetent people, such as the president’s advisers, Mohammed Sarmini and Ahmed Ramadan, who never had any administrative jobs and knew nothing about politics, so how such a government would be able to perform its duties to the Syrian people?.

This government has become a den for Muslim Brotherhoods who operate as a clique and close party, and these methods must end soon.
