(Zaman Al Wasl)- Senior officer in the Military Intelligence Division was wounded Tuesday when unknown assailants attacked his convoy in the southern province of Quneitra, sources told Zaman al-Wasl.
Bri. Gen Saleh Al-Ali, the deputy head of the Military Security Branch in Quneitra, was wounded in the attack near the town of Kanaker.
Salih is one of Bashar al-Asssad’s notorious officers. He was honoured by the Russian military leadership for being the security official for the eastern sector between Daraa and Sweida provinces in southern Syria.
Two weeks ago, another brigadier General was killed by unknown gunmen in Daraa, following a series of snap attacks against regime army personnels and allied militants, activists told Zaman al -Wasl.
The attack took place near the town of Busra al-Harir in the eastern countryside of Daraa.
Local sources confirmed to Zaman Al Wasl that General Talal Qassem was killed immediately after being shot by masked men riding a motorcycle.
More than 220,000 regime forces have been killed since the armed conflict erupted nine years ago.
The conflict in Syria has also killed more than 500,000 people and displaced 13.2 millions.
