(ISTANBUL/WASHINGTON- Zaman Alwasl-) The Syrian National Council for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces (SNC) demanded the U.S. Government to present the issue of “unannounced stockpiles of chemical weapons” still in the possession of Assad’s regime, and the recent attacks on Syrians with chlorine gas, on the UN Security Council.
And a report obtained by Zaman Alwasl regarding the coalition’s visit to Washington, from (5-14 last May) has confirmed that the secret programs of regime’s chemical weapons present a threat to the Syrian people and the world, pointing out to the importance of holding the regime accountable for violations of Security Council resolution No. (2118).
Moreover, The coalition renewed its request to refer the Syrian file to the International Criminal Court (ICC) through the Security Council, stressing several measures that the American Delegation should take, including increasing humanitarian aid to the Syrian refugees abroad and at home, and building the interim government’s capacity to support the existing governing mechanisms in the liberated areas by the local council and "revolutionary activists”.
The delegation repeated its demands to be provided with anti-aircraft weapons against the regime which bombards cities and neighborhoods with barrel bombs, and hasn’t even spared Aleppo’s Governorate building, in which the U.S. State Department has invested, as well as targeting, undoubtedly, civil centers and institutions, such as schools.
The report revealed coalition’s willingness to share intelligence information with the United State "to have a better view of the battlefield," pointing out to its readiness to establish a joint committee between the two parties in order to" mitigate the conflict" and to review the needed equipment, distribution, and measures to provide the opposition moderate forces with U.S. military aid and "non-lethal" weapons, however, with great caution, fearing that a-Qaeda group would get their hands on any weapons.
Despite the fact that the report is old, but it contains important information about the secrets of that visit, which has witnessed the delegation’s political and media activities in Washington, and the culminating point was when the delegation’s led by its president Ahmad Jarba met with the U.S. President Barack Obama and the Secretary of State John Kerry.
