An announcement by the local council in Turkish-held Tal Abyad region north of Raqqa provicne has banned people and vehicles from leaving their houses without a personal identification document issued by the council for “security reasons.”
According to a source from the council, they were instructed by the Turkish governor that anyone who does not carry an ID issued by the council and any vehicle without plates issued by the transportation directorate in the city are prohibited.
The council said in a statement that, in order to ensure the safety of the people of Tal Abyad, persons who do not carry an ID will not be allowed to cross the checkpoints in the area.
Residents were urged to obtain car and motorcycle licenses and to register their vehicles in its transportation directorate as soon as possible.
