Legendary resistance will break the siege, undermines Israel's policy: Bishara

 (Translation by Dani Murad)

(Zaman Alwasl)- In an interview with Al Jazeera news channel on Thursday, the prominent Palestinian thinker Azmi Bishara predicted that the tragedy of the Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip will end with lifting the long siege, after its legendary resistance.

The General Director of the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies, and during an episode of "Gaza resists", said that the West Bank is on the verge of a third intifada, pointing out to the need to organize Palestinian’s anger in a civil, unified and thoughtful rebellion as a way of peaceful resistance, which will cause so much worry to Israel.

Bishara also pointed out to obvious compatibility and agreement between the Palestinian Authority and the resistance, which adopted its conditions to cease-fire, and he even praised the stances of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, that exposed him to systematic attacks by the highest leaders of the occupation, because the historic agreement between Hamas and the Palestinian Authority stirred great dissatisfaction among the occupation authorities.

Moreover, he believes that the resistance’s capabilities, shown in Gaza, proved the failure of Israel’s logic in building walls of separation or the siege it imposed on Palestinians since 2007, because they were able to dig underground tunnels to hunt Israeli soldiers and made missiles that can reach far distances despite the blockade, while Israel responded by targeting civilians, after failing to identify the strongholds of resistance, or "the dens of terrorism," as the Israelis say.

According to Bishara, the besieged Palestinians will not leave the Israelis enjoy a "European stability," while they suffer under the siege in Gaza, and renewed his criticism of the Egyptian initiative, which "embarrasses the resistance," because it was decided without consulting Palestinians first, believing that adhering to the Egyptian initiative prolong the crisis, especially since it came as "something that must be done".

In the interview, Bishara shed the light on the most critical points that undermined all efforts to stop the Palestinian bloodshed in more than two weeks as well as to reach a reasonable ceasefire that guarantees the legitimate rights of Gaza’s people who suffer severe siege by both sides, Israel and Egypt.

1-Egypt bet on Israel's ability to defeat the resistance (Hamas).

2 -The Egyptian initiative, which sided with Israel, has failed in front of the resistant stubborn, what urged the United States' administration to look for other mediators.

3 - Officials of Turkey and Qatar have no initiative; just they delivered the resistance demands to the United States.

4-The Palestinian factions refuted media manipulation made by the Egyptian regime regarding the initiative.

5 - Egypt has sought through its initiative to put pressure on the resistance, in the same time it was like a lifeline to Israel.

6 - The initiative dealt with the resistance and Israel as equals and that was not fair to equal between aggressor and who defends his land and honor.

7 – The Palestinian resistance must struggle because it's a matter of life or death.

8 - Resistance accumulated experience and developed their capabilities and efforts of local self-pipes turned into missiles bombed Tel Aviv.

9 - The consequences of an Israeli ground military operation could be disastrous; for that it would be limited.

10 – All Palestinian parties are under threat, not only Hamas, as the Israeli aggression continues.

11 – Gazans decided to break the siege forever.

12- Palestine remains the central issue of the Arab people.

13- Palestinian Authority should accumulate all international efforts for fair investigation in Israeli crimes in Gaza through the International Criminal Court.

The prominent researcher and writer, believes that cease of fire should be based on Palestinian principles, including: lifting the siege from all sides (Israel and Egypt),and releasing the detainees as part of negotiations and not as the goal of it, adding that Israeli officials have hinted to a unilateral cease-fire, which will not be binding for the resistance after the death of more than 700 Palestinians out of 1.5 million within a few days, and after the severe siege and starvation of long years.

In addition tothat, he revealed that Israeli commentators have talked about the Israeli involvement in the Egyptian initiative, and that that even Kerry put forth ideas similar to the Egyptians’ proposal, and then returned with other ideas under the pressure of “some Arabs”!

As the death toll of the Israeli offensive topped 833 Palestinians and more than 5,200 wounded, mostly children and women, Bishara stresses that everyone is waiting for Cairo to have an Arab leading role, away from its regime, saying that no competitor to Egypt in this area being the closest geographically and the largest demographically.
