Northern Syria records 424 new coronavirus cases

Health authorities in northern Syria have recorded 424 new confirmed coronavirus cases on Monday.

The total number of cases in the opposition-held north-west of Syria has jumped to around 11,852 since the start of the pandemic as at least 4455 cases have been recovered, according to the Epidemiological Surveillance Laboratory.

Activists said that the Civil Defence on Monday had buried 10 people who died of Covid-19.

Humanitarian workers fear that any further rise in coronavirus cases would be disastrous in northwest Syria, where almost 1.5 million people live in overcrowded camps or shelters, often with poor access to running water.
