National Army thwarts YPG attack in Ras Al Ayn region
Fresh clashes erupted between Syrian rebels and Kurdish YPG militia near the Turkish-held Ras al-Ayn region in northern Syria, local activists said Friday.

The National Army fighters thwarted a new infiltration attempt into Abu Rasayn area by Kurdish fighters on Thursday.

No casualties have been reported by both sides, sources said.

The Turkish military and the Syrian National Army attacked Kurdish forces in northeastern Syria on October 9, 2019 with the aim of creating a roughly 30-kilometer (20-mile) deep buffer zone.

The Turkish defence ministry reported early this week killing11 YPG fighters in the so-called Peace Spring area.

Ankara views the YPG as a terrorist group linked to Kurdish militants on its own soil and has mounted military operations in northern Syria to push it back from the border.
