Russian-backed forces seize huge drugs quantities in Daraa province

Russian-backed Fifth Corps said Sunday that huge quantities of drugs had been seized in southern Daraa province.

The Eight Brigade, key unit in the Fifth Corps, stated that Lebanese Hezbollah militia is behind the trade of the large amount of narcotic substances seized by one of its checkpoints in Daraa.

The brigade, formed by Russia in Busra al-Sham district, stressed that, “The drugs were destroyed by a medical and military committee and in the presence of local notables.”

Hezbollah deals through agents of the Syrian regime in the region in drugs that the Jordanian army has continuously declared thwarting all attempts to smuggle into its territory from Syria.

Several countries, such as Egypt, Greece and Saudi Arabia, have previously seized large shipments of narcotic substances smuggled on board cargo ships departing from the ports of Tartous and Latakia.
