Palestine representative in UN says Western countries have double standards

(Zaman Alwasl)- Palestine’s representative in the United Nation, reveals that Western countries, the great nations in particular have put an essential rule prevents judging Israel in the Security Council.

In his talk to Zaman Alwasl, Riyad Mansoor explains that the Security Council held the urgent meeting to discuss the violation against Gaza after several calls by Mahmood Abbas, the Palestinian President, while a similar meeting was held within 24 hours to discuss the Malaysian airplane that fell over Ukraine. He says that actions points out to the double standards the Western countries have in general and against the Palestinians in particular.

Palestine representative wonders saying: “ all know Israel lies and false claims of defending itself, moreover many countries’ representative were shocked from the images I showed in my presentation about the situation in Gaza, they all were compassion with Gaza's tragedy, but that is not enough to stop killing”

He adds that despite the international pressure against Israel to stop its violation against Gaza, the security Council does not act effectively because of the American VITO. He mentioned that solution needs an honest attitude of USA as they have the decision and they hold responsibility for each drop of blood falls from Palestinian people”

Mansoor says that 29 countries of Non-aligned States and 57 countries of Organization of Islamic Cooperation and majority of the European Union countries stood against Israel in the security council, but that was not enough to make a decision.

In regard to the Egyptian Initiative, Mansoor explains that initiatives are not discussed in the security council, the priority is for stopping the violation, while initiatives are discussed by Palestinian negotiators in Egypt.

Palestinian representative ends his talk to Zaman Alwasl saying: “war would end sooner or later, Israel is now looking for acceptable exit. Equalizing HAMAS with Israel is not acceptable; however Gaza’s resistance has become an annoying fact to Tel Aviv.
