The Syrian security has arrested a doctor and three nurses in the past few days for diagnosing new Covid-19 cases without referring to the Health Ministry, local monitoring group said Thursday.
The Daraa Martyrs Documentation office recorded the raiding of the homes of the 4 healthcare workers by the Military Security and the Air Force Intelligence branch. According to the office, the nurses and doctor were accused of “diagnosing infections without referring to the Ministry of Health.”
The office has documented the arrest of 21 doctors and health workers by regime forces since the regime took control over Daraa in August 2018, three of whom died under torture in detention.
During the past three weeks, the number of coronavirus cases and deaths caused by the virus have increased at a rapid pace. Currently, there are over 9,600 cases throughout Syria, with over 4,500 recovered and 554 deaths.
