(Zaman Alwasl)- Rebels have arrested a Syrian Christian family on Friday over allegations of cooperation with Russian Intelligence and holding a Russian citizenship in Idlib province, activists reported.
Zaman Alwasl’s sources said the family was detained by an armed group in Idlib countryside on Friday under accusation of being a Russian family works to their country’s intelligence, is a Syrian Christian family consists of Michael Karo and his daughter with her husband and his grandchildren. His wife is Russian and his children might obtain the Russian nationality from her. The family is known of its modesty and moderation with no particular political direction. This information contradicts with what has been published about them of being a Russian family was detained by an armed group in Idlib countryside.
Joseaf Mkarnabeh, the family friend, appeals to help in releasing them explaining that they are a Syrian family and Michael Karo is a pure Syrian man got married to a Russian lady when he was studying in Soviet Union 30 years ago. “I was shocked to hear the news about arresting them and consider them a Russian family. They were in their way back to Aleppo, coming from Mashta-Elhilo where they spent some time for vacation and recovery from illness for Mr. Karo. I appeal for all honest people to help in stopping circulating lies and rumors about them and help in releasing them as soon as possible”.
Relying on its national responsibility, Zaman Alwasl appeals to people who detain the family to release them as soon as possible
