The Iraqi army on Thursday said it was redeploying and repositioning troops along the Syrian border in the country's northeast.
The move comes a day after the country launched a major operation against remnants of Islamic State group in Makhmour district of Nineveh governorate.
The militants often use the long border strip with Syria as a route to transfer fighters and supplies from Syria to Iraq and the other way around.
