Russia has withdrawn forces from controlled by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in northern Aleppo province, sources told Zaman al-Wasl Wednesday.
The Russian military units withdrew from outposts in Tal Rifaat, Sherawa, Kashtar, Tanb, Tal Ajjar and Menagh air base north of Aleppo city. Russia plans to deploy all forces in Aleppo city, according to a military source.
Residents of Tal Rifaat town fear a Russian-Turkish deal behind the withdrawal.
In 2015, the SDF, backed by the Russian air force, took control of Tal Rifaat and the surrounding villages, pushing at least 250,000 people to flee the town to live in harsh living conditions at the Turkish border.
