Youth Holocaust: documentary focuses on extremism impacts on Syrian conflict

In his short documentary, 'Youth Holocaust', Syrian director Mustafa Abu Hasna focuses on the emergence of extremism and its severe impacts on the Syrian conflict.

The film seeks  to refute the claim that extremism is caused by religious texts, a major problem that was and is still the subject of controversy between Sharia scholars and secular theorists Is the problem in religion, texts, heritage, or Islamic scholars, the director told Zaman al-Wasl.

Abu Hasna, 30, adopted a historical narration that has been conveyed through interviews with specialists, which is the main pillar of the film, including an interview with Dr. Majed Darwish, a lecturer in Islamic law and Dr. Ghassan Al-Khaled, a lecturer in sociology, to highlight the case from the legal and psychological point of view.

The film which was produced by the Syrian Trend Agency has also tried to clarify this confusion among two types of people - misled by them - and they are from the category of young people of modest culture and educational level, and they formed this prejudgment on Islam as a religion of extremism and blind imitation of the other section, and these are the ones who know the truth of Islam, but they play the role of deceivers.
