Kurdish internal security reached a permanent truce with pro-regime forces after days of deadly clashes in the northeastern Qamishli city due to a Russian mediation, Kurdish media outlets said Sunday.

Clashes broke out between Asayish and pro-regime National Defense Forces (NDF) in Qamishli on Tuesday night. Late on Friday, the Asayish announced they had reached a temporary ceasefire with the NDF after the intervention of the Kurdish-led SDF and Russians, who are mediating the talks.
The Asayish handed over the Russian military police 3 bodies of National Defense militia who were killed in clashes in the Tai neighborhood in Qamishli, sources told Zaman al-Wasl.
The agreement stipulated a complete ceasefire and the withdrawal of fighters from the streets along with Russian patrols in the city’s streets, the sources said.
The fighting began when the National Defense Forces attacked the position manned by the Kurdish security forces in the city.
